The Toddler / Pre School Room (2 years +)

In our pre-school room we cater for 29 children in key groups allocated to the six members of staff.

The activities provided are planned using the appropriate DfES/Sure Start guidance - 'Birth to Three Matters' for under 3's and the Early Learning Goals (Foundation Stage).

We believe in play wirh a purpose for this age group with a strong focus on developing the children's social skills, communication and independence. An environment is provided in which children have the freedom to choose from pre-planned activities with sensitive guidance from adults whose interaction encourages the children's development to progress.

A Typical Day

08.00 am onwards - Welcome.
08.30 to 09.00 - Breakfast (if required).
09.00 to 10.30 - Free choice from planned and themed related focus activities.
10.30 - Snack. Story & songs / circle time.
11.00 to 11.45 - Outdoor play (or music and movement session if bad weather).
11.45 to 12.30 - Lunchtime.
12.30 to 14.30 - Quiet activities and / or sleep
(as needed by individual child).
15.00 to 16.00 - Outdoor play.
16.00 - Teatime.
16.30 to 17.45 - Relaxed activities and free
choice from pre-planned play activities.
